App Development and Student Competition

Working with technology means more than just coding and computer science: Whether it is strategy, conception, or communication – many might be surprised by how diverse these jobs are. AWS GetIT introduces young people to technological professions and dispels stereotypes of the tech industry.

Every day, we use countless apps on our smartphones, but how is an app actually created? In the AWS GetIT programme, 8th and 9th graders work in small groups to develop a concept for a socially relevant app. In the process, they have access to a learning management system that provides important knowledge.

AWS Ambassadors support the young participants with their app conceptualization and provide intriguing insights into technological career fields. Additionally, they are available for questions and offer regular feedback. The programme particularly encourages and inspires girls to consider a future career in tech.

At the end of the programme, each school can submit an app concept for the competition. In the grand finale the best app concepts are presented in front of an expert jury, in the form of a real marketing pitch.
